Happy Birthday!

Happy Sunday! And I'm showcasing another birthday card! As usual, I'm using mostly Lawn Fawn products. I have been investing in other lines of stamps too, so I'll start making cards with their stamps soon!

The background and clouds were created using a dark blue sheet from the Beachside Petite Paper Pack as well as the Puffy Cloud Borders. I adhered the clouds using some scor-tape and popped up the foremost layer with foam tape. I used some Neenah cardstock for the base.

The bird, mouse, balloon, and cake from Elphie Selfie, skunk and heart from Stinkin' Cute, otter and presents from Year Five, and plate from Let's BBQ were stamped with Lawn Fawn's jet black ink. Each image was watercolored with Tombow dual brush pens and then fussy cut. To give it a more finished look, I used a black marker on the edges after cutting as well as for darkening the animals' eyes and noses.

For some dimension, I attached foam tape to the top half of the balloon, the pink present, and the cake. I adhered the rest of the images as well as the string on the balloon with glue. The reflective look on the balloon was drawn with a white glaze pen.

I had die cut the Happy Birthday Border using a light blue cardstock. To affix the greeting, I glued it in the same piece it was die cut from as a guide and trimmed off the excess.

I stamped the sentiment from Year Five with tuxedo black ink and added some clear glitter to the balloon, cake frosting, candle flames, and heart to finish off the card.

As I was writing this post, I realized the ears on the skunk look like they haven't been colored in (the pink is very light) haha! I'll need to fix that.

Eggstra Special Easter Card

Happy Friday! I have an Eggstra special card today! I used Lawn Fawn's Chirpy Chirp Chirp for all the stamped images seen on this card.

I attached some light green paper that has been die cut with a Large Stitched Rectangle Stackable. I kept the front simple because I wanted the spotlight to be on the inside of the card. For the egg, I watercolored it using a Tombow marker. I stamped out the bottom portion of the cracked egg from the stamp set to create a template and lined it up with the blue egg to draw the cracks. To finish the front of the card, I fussy cut the egg and added some clear glitter to the butterfly.

For the background of the inside, I used some more of the same green paper as well as a light blue sheet from the Beachside Petite Paper Pack. I die cut several of the Simple Puffy Clouds as well as grass using the Meadow Border dies.

I don't have a pop-up die cut at the moment, so I cut out about an inch wide strip of paper to pop up the round grass layer in front of the straight one. I glued the bottom of the layer to adhere it and prevent the ends from moving around.

Just like the blue egg on the front, I stamped the rest of the images onto a piece of Strathmore Bristol smooth paper and again fussy cut them after watercoloring with Tombow markers.

For the chick, I used an action wobbler to make it more interactive.  The eggs were adhered using a Zig glue pen.

To finish off this card, I stamped on the "Chirpy Chirp Chirp" sentiment. I had tons of fun making this card!

Instead of Texting, I Made This Card

Hi guys! I've recently started crafting and blogging, so I'm still getting the hang of things around here.

I was inspired to create this card for Lawn Fawn's new challenge blog!

I originally had the idea of creating a card using Lawn Fawn's Say Cheese polaroid die-cut, but I didn't know where to start. Using the inner square from the die cut, I watercolored a simple grass and sky background with Distress Ink cubes. Once it dried, I sprinkled the background with water and dabbed out the excess water with a napkin.

I stamped out the birds, speech bubble, phone, and the envelope with the heart from Love Letters onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper. I also used the sentiment from this set for the bottom of the polaroid. The cupcake, candle, and presents are from Lawn Fawn's Birthday Tags and Winter Gifts stamp sets. For the party hats and pig, I used Mama Elephant's Lunar Animals stamps. Lastly, the elephant is from Simon Says Stamp's Wild Cuddly Critters.

I watercolored all of the images with Tombow Dual Brush pens. Once they were dry, I fussy cut the images and used a black Memento marker for a cleaner look. In attempt to darken the eye of the elephant, I made a small mistake. I had also stamped the penguin from Wild Cuddly Critters and did not use it, so I fussy cut the eyes out and glued them onto the elephant when I liked how they were placed.

To assemble the card, the base of the design was cut out using a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" stitched rectangle. I glued some presents to the background of the polaroid first, using Tombow's Mono liquid glue and attached the frame, pig, and elephant using foam tape. When I had already placed the elephant where I wanted it, I realized I had forgotten about the hats. I simply glued the bottom portion of the hats to the critters I wanted them on before assembling the rest of the card. The red and blue birds were given dimension with foam tape, but I left the yellow one on its own and used 1/4" scor-tape to add it to the base. I went back and glued gifts in front of the pig and elephant and then the cupcake to the corner of the polaroid.

Once I was happy with the card, I attached it to a white card base with more scor-tape but accidentally left a white space at the top of the card when assembling. I wanted to cover up the line at the top of the card, so I stamped out three of the little banner stamps from the Birthday Tags and colored them with a rainbow look. Once again, I fussy cut each of the triangles out and covered the cut edges with a black marker. I used the same marker to color the top of the card to make it look like a long string and glued the banners to the top.

This is my first ever handmade card. What do you guys think? Let me know!
